The History of GYOI

You are here:

In 2002, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta was selected to host the Metro-Atlanta Youth Opportunities Initiative (MAYOI), a pilot site for the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative.  In 2005, as the pilot phase was ending, MAYOI moved statewide and became the Georgia Youth Opportunities Initiative.

Helping foster care youth in Georgia since 2002.

It was at this time that MAAC was selected to host the Youth Engagement strategy, EmpowerMEnt, and then later the Research Evaluation & Communication and Partnerships & Resources strategies.  MAAC eventually became the lead and fiscal agent for the Georgia Youth Opportunities Initiative.
